Don't buy a Kindle

If you are thinking of buying a Kindle, don't! When you buy a Kindle your rights to read will be given up to Amazon. They can pick and choose what you can read and even delete ebooks you've purchased from your device without warning or notification!

The book 1984 had one serious error, it failed to predict that governments would become ineffective and that an oligarchy of corporations would control what you read, what you see on television, what you see or hear as news, and the concepts of freedom.

Moving forward, we in the software industry must try harder to preserve freedoms. For each limiting technology, i.e. DRM, we must create enabling technology, i.e. peer to peer file sharing.

Governments no longer need to break their own laws to ban books or block information. They just offer tax breaks to the corporations and villa! Wikileaks is off-line.
